Internship program offers professional development to University of Iowa staff UI staff can gain new skills or knowledge through the Internship Program. Interns are placed with cooperating University departments where they can learn new skills that will be an asset to the sponsoring department as well. The program is extremely flexible and designed to assist individuals in meeting their stated professional goals and objectives. Typical work release arrangements of 10- to 20-percent time are made over a period of 6 to 12 months. Departments throughout campus are available as placement sites for participants in this program. In the past, staff members have held internships that enabled them to develop and refine research, writing, training, program development, and administrative skills. Examples of areas that are available for internship placement include University Relations, Internal Audit, University Hospitals and Clinics, Central Microscopy Facility, the Foundation, and many areas within human resources such as staff development, WorkLife, and employee and labor relations. Learn more about the Internship Program at an open house from noon to 1 p.m., Feb. 10, in River Room 1, IMU. No registration is necessary.
