Joselson, Lecuona perform

Percussionists get Last Chance


The Percussion Ensemble (pictured here in a 1996 file photo) will have its "Last Chance" concert at 8:02 p.m., May 7, in Harper Hall VMB, making it the final student concert of the academic year at the School of Music. The performance is free and open to the public. Photo by Tom Jorgensen.



Trombonist and band release CD

George Krem, trombonist and former member of the School of Music faculty, has released a compact disc entitled Music for Trombone and Band with the UI Symphony Band and the University of Arizona Wind Ensemble. Featured are works by Derek Bourgeois, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Simone Mantia.

The CD is available at Eble Music, 115 S. Linn St., and at J. Hall Keyboards, 1841 Lower Muscatine Rd. It will soon be available through Tap Music Sales in Newton, Iowa, at (515)792-0352 or at www.tapmusic.com.



Steel Band Extravaganza

Steel Band Extravaganza, with performers from The University of Iowa and Cornell College, will be held at 8pm, May 5, in Voxman Hall VMB. Pieces will include "Mambo" from West Side Story and "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid. The event is free and open to the public.



Digital Worlds to be shown

Digital Worlds, a new program in art and art history, will have a screening of student works at 7:30pm, May 6, at the Arts Iowa City Gallery, 129 E. Washington. Students in the program explore an array of 2D, 3D, and interactive software to create whole digital realms. The event, which will feature the screening of 40 student "worlds," is free and open to the public.



MFA work at Museum of Art

MFA 1999-2000, an exhibition of works by recipients of the Master of Fine Arts degree in art and art history, will be on view from May 6 through June 4 at the Museum of Art Carver Gallery. The exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.
