InSite: Catch a flick

Had about all the holiday festivities you can take? Trade the lights, carols, and angst for lights, cameras, and action at the Bijou, where, for a couple of hours, you can be whisked away from seasonal stress. And how often does the promise of relaxation come with the vow that you’ll be unwinding in a DiCaprio-free theater?

A visit to the Bijou web site, www.uiowa.edu/~bijou/, provides plenty of cheer—just opening the candy-coated yellow homepage, which can be sweetly sized to fit your monitor, will make you feel better. A sign on the lower left of the screen provides links to daily and weekly listings, as well as a synopsis of the films. Bijou news, special events, and "fun stuff" also are included.

The site was designed by senior student Dave Selden, a journalism and art major, who also telecommutes to a West Des Moines web-designer job with an advertising agency. Selden will debut the Bijou Version 3.0, with an all-new design, at the beginning of the spring 2000 semester.
