Distinguished Achievement Award nominations sought

The Distinguished Achievement Award is given to a UI faculty or staff member who has distinguished herself or himself and the University by her or his record of achievement in a professional or service capacity within the University or broader community.

Previous recipients include Detective Sergeant Mary Jo Lessmeier; Josephine Gittler, prozfessor of law; Barbara Stay, professor of biological sciences; Jean Kendall, IMU director; N. Peggy Burke, associate professor emeritus of health, leisure, and sport studies; Mary Jo Small, former associate vice president; N. June Davis, former assistant vice president; June Helm, professor of anthropology; and Vivian Stringer, former women’s basketball coach.

Criteria:

Candidates should have significant years of experience within the University community in a professional or service capacity;
Candidates should be considered pioneers in their work/service; and
Candidates should be considered role models for women and/or girls.
