Regents Fellowship Program

The Iowa Regents universities are collaborating in a program to stimulate scholarly initiatives among the three institutions. The Regents Fellowship Program offers faculty the opportunity to travel to member institutions to exchange ideas and develop collaborative projects in teaching, research, and/or public service. The program is available to any eligible faculty member at The University of Iowa, Iowa State University, or the University of Northern Iowa who wishes to enlarge or advance their professional activities by taking advantage of opportunities at a sister institution. Detailed information about the program and applications are available at www.uiowa.edu/~provost/irfp.htm or from the Office of the Provost, 111 JH. Applications will be accepted until all funds have been allocated. For more information, contact Lee Anna Clark, la-clark@uiowa.edu, or (33)5-0146.

Carver Scientific Research Initiative Grant

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces the continuation of the Carver Scientific Research Initiative Grant program, a cooperative venture with the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust of Muscatine, Iowa, and the University of Iowa Foundation.

Awards ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 will support faculty in the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Engineering who have ideas with long-range potential but who need to conduct preliminary studies. Faculty in the natural, physical, geological, and engineering sciences are eligible. No awards will be made in the social sciences (including psychology) or in the humanities.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 26. For more information, contact Larry Rettig, (33)5-2119, lawrence-rettig@uiowa.edu.

T. Anne Cleary dissertation award

Applications are now being accepted for the 2001 T. Anne Cleary International Dissertation Research Fellowship, which provides funds for UI doctoral students to conduct research outside of the United States. Support may be requested for stipend, post-comp tuition and contributions to travel, subsistence, and/or research expenses for any period during the fiscal year (July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002). Fellowships typically provide $1,500 to $5,000, but proposals for support of up to $15,000 will be considered. Proposals that request funds to match those obtained or applied for from other sources will be given priority. Applications are due April 3. Additional guidelines and application materials are available from International Programs, 232 IC, or on the International Programs web site at www.uiowa.edu/~intl. For more information, contact Sandra Barkan, (33)5-2136, or Christopher Roy, (33)5-0374.
