Bulletin Board Award for cross-cultural understanding The Office of International Students and Scholars is accepting nominations for the Mariko Mizuhara Award for Cross-Cultural Understanding. One or two awards of $200 will be given in memory of Mariko Mizuhara, a Japanese music student who died unexpectedly in 1992. Awards will honor individuals or organizations for activities that took
place between Jan. 2000 and April 2001. Nominations will be accepted until

Applicants must be P&S, merit supervisory exempt/confidential, or merit staff; hold a regular appointment of 50 percent time or more; and have completed one year of employment prior to the application deadline of April 1. The scholarship, made possible by Coca-Cola funds, covers the cost of
in-state or resident tuition for up to four credit hours. All UI-sponsored
classes, including Saturday and Evening classes and correspondence courses,
are eligible. Courses must be for the purpose of changing career direction

Children and adults with speech, language, hearing, or reading problems may participate in clinical services in June and July at the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center. The Speech Pathology and Audiology Summer Outpatient Clinical Services will be available for people of all ages with communication problems, while the Summer Reading Program will help second- and third-graders who are having difficulty developing language and/or reading skills. Program will be held June 25-August 2 at UIHC. This program provides speech
therapy services and reading assistance from licensed staff members. For

Students with a disability who will be attending a graduate or professional school at the University are eligible to apply for the Braverman Scholarship. The scholarship is based on academic performance, contribution to the betterment of the students undergraduate and/or graduate institutions and/or community, and need. The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center will host two entrepreneurial camps this summer for elementary and high school students who want to find out whats its like to start a business. A camp for eastern Iowa students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades will take place June 25-29 at PBB. Registration is currently under way. Cost is $79.
