Lisa Bluder,
head coach of women’s basketball, named College Coach of the Year by Women’s Basketball News Service and voted Big Ten Coach of the Year by both the media and league coaches.

Ozzie Diaz-Duque, social services, recipient of the first annual Latino Leadership Award from the Department of Human Services, Division of Latino Affairs, State of Iowa.

Jim Duncan, librarian at Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, and Jerald Moon, associate professor of speech pathology and audiology, recipients of an Instructional Computing in Dentistry Award (first place in the CD-ROM category) from the Dental Informatics Section of the American Dental Education Association for their CD-ROM, "The Bones of the Skull."

Lawrence G. Hunsicker, professor of internal medicine, appointed to a three-year term on the Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation in the Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

John Kimmich-Javier, associate professor of journalism and mass communication, recipient of a first-place award for a sports action photo in the magazine division of the National Press Photographers Association Pictures of the Year Competition.

Cynthia Lewis, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, elected to membership in the National Conference on Research in Language and Literacy.

John Lowe, professor of community and behavioral health, named a fellow in the American Academy of Health Behavior.

Christopher Merrill, director of the International Writing Program, recipient of the 2001 Annual Literacy Award of the Writers Association of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
