Staff award nominations sought Staff Council is seeking nominations for the University and Board of Regents Excellence awards. Up to six University and six Regents awards will be granted. Deadline for receipt of nominations is May 1. The Board of Regents Staff Excellence Award is granted to staff members
who have performed exceptional service to the University and the state
of Iowa. The University will provide a $1,000 prize to the awardees
department to be used for his/her benefit. Non-bargaining professional
and scientific staff and non-bargaining merit staff are eligible. For

The Office of Affirmative Action invites members of the University of Iowa community to submit nominations for its third annual Catalyst Award. The Catalyst Award honors individuals and departments engaged in diversity initiatives that serve to promote the development of an inclusive, diverse campus. Two recipients (an individual and a department) will receive a $250 award
and will be honored at a reception in the fall. For more information or

Deadline for nominations is April 23. Wild Bills, the coffee shop located within the School of Social Work, will celebrate 25 years in operation with a potluck supper, 6:30 p.m., April 6, in 321 NH. Following the meal, people will share stories about Bill Sackter, for whom the coffee shop was founded and named, and watch a screening of Bill: On His Own, the sequel to the original TV movie about Sackter that was written by former UI staff member, Barry Morrow. Since Sackters death in 1983, the coffee shop has continued to
operate, employing individuals with disabilities from the community. The Womens Resource & Action Center, the Iowa Womens Foundation, and the Iowa City Public Library will present the next workshop in the 2000-01 Women and Money Series, "Estate planning: Who gets Grandmas yellow pie plate?" 6:30-8:30pm, April 12, in Meeting Room A of the public library. The workshop will focus on the transfer of nontitled property and will
provide reliable information and answers to participants questions.
Seating and materials for the workshop are limited, so preregistration

Cancer patients can have their questions answered and find mutual understanding and support from other cancer patients through an on-line support group sponsored by the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. More than 100 people have been involved with the support group, which is accessed through the patients e-mail account. or by phone, (35)3-2314. On March 1, Facilities Services Group (FSG) debuted a new work request management software, Facilities Management Enterprise (FMe). It replaces the existing University mainframe system (PJMS) and allows FSG to efficiently manage and coordinate work requests, human resource information, accounting data, parts inventory, purchases, and preventive maintenance information. FMe will interface with existing University systems (HRIS, GL, APPO) and provide the campus community better access to work request information. The current PJMS system will be available through June 30 to view fiscal year charges through Feb. 28. All work request charges as of March 1 will be available in the FMe program.
