IOWA winners

The top winners of the spring 2001 Improving Our Workplace Awards (IOWA) are:

Teams

  • College of Education Building and Grounds Committee (Elizabeth Everson, Sandra Hughes, George Karr, James Verry). Devised a proactive system that identifies needed maintenance, improved signage, safety issues, and how to handle minor emergencies for Lindquist Center North and South. Nominated by Anne DiPardo and Dick Shepardson.

  • Web ISIS Team (Joel Wilcox, Ed Hill, Dave Martin, Tom Law, Diana Lynch). Created a separate financial aid section for students on the ISIS web site to provide information to students quickly and conveniently. This service frees staff to respond to parents and students having difficulty with the financial process. Nominated by Pete Sidwell.

  • INFORMMation Café Team (Matt Kaufman, Tom Crawford, Thurston Smith, Mary Greer, Phyllis Jacobsen, Becky Iliff, Diana Leventry). Developed and implemented information access PC stations for staff, patients, and visitors. Nominated by Linda Bergquist.

Individuals

  • Dennis Crawford, FSG Equipment Services. Created a searchable web site to access information about each general assignment classroom’s characteristics, including operating instructions for available equipment. This service facilitates planning, operating equipment, and answering "hotline" questions. Nominated by Reva Elder.

  • Steven Bundy, FSG Design and Construction Services. Developed an incentive program for contractors that was key in getting the classrooms in the Nursing Building completed before the start of classes and completing the project ahead of schedule. Nominated by Eric Foresman.

  • Susan A. Walsh, Free Radical and Radiology Biology Program. Reorganized and renovated laboratory space so that two new laboratories were incorporated into the program. In addition, Walsh’s process facilitated faculty, technicians, and students to work more congenially and productively. Nominated by Douglas Spitz.
