Apply for AUW Career Development Award

The UI chapter of Associated University Women (AUW) invites applications for the AUW Career Development award. The award may be used for (but is not restricted to) tuition assistance, travel expenses for a conference or professional meeting, and/or various Staff Development courses that charge a fee. AUW will present one or two awards totaling $250 this academic year.

University of Iowa staff members (P&S, merit and merit supervisory exempt/confidential, but not current AUW Executive Board members) are eligible to apply for this award. Applicants should be employed at least 50% time at the time of application and using this award. Preference will be given to AUW members and applicants who have not previously received this award.

Each applicant should submit the following information: name; position and department; campus address and telephone number; supervisor’s name and campus address; number of years employed by UI; brief description (250 words or less) of the proposed developmental activity and an explanation of why this activity will enhance the applicant’s professional skills; short itemization of the anticipated costs; list of previous career/Staff Development awards received; AUW membership status. Applicants also may include other information regarding their professional status. The application should be signed and dated.

The deadline for applications is September 15. Forward applications to Evalyn Van Allen-Shalash, Office of the Provost, 111 JH. For more information, contact her at (33)5-0256 or at van-allen-shalash@uiowa.edu.

See the AUW web site at www.uiowa.edu/~auw/ for more information about becoming a member.
