The 11th annual Long-Term Care Conference will be held 8am-4:30pm, Nov. 3, at the Clarion Hotel in Coralville. This years conference will offer a variety of topics addressing end-of-life care and will have a broad appeal to long-term care and hospice staff, including nurses, social workers, and administrators. This is a 0.65 CEU program for nurses and social workers and 0.55 for nursing home administrators. Associated University Women (AUW) will host a discussion on maintaining enthusiasm on the job by Monique DiCarlo, director of the Womens Resource and Action Center, noon-1pm, Nov. 1, in the Kirkwood Room, IMU. Each month, AUW sponsors Discourse & Dininga series of casual discussions with an invited speaker. Bring your lunch!
ITS-Academic Technologies and the Center for Teaching announce a pilot training program specifically designed for teaching assistants (TAs), "T3Extreme Technology Training for TAs," Oct. 21-22. By teaching web page design and creation, image scanning and optimization, and interactive course web site implementation, T3 will enhance the working experience between faculty and TAs and foster a community of collaboration and mutual support among TAs. The Womens Resource and Action Center (WRAC) will hold its second coffeehouse of the academic year at 7:30pm, Oct. 27, at WRAC. WRAC coffeehouses celebrate the voices and creations of women on campus, and this year the coffeehouses are in an open-mike format. Women who create stories, poems, prose, music, or other artistic endeavors are invited to share their work. For more information, call WRAC at (33)5-1486.
About 80 percent of documents added to the ERIC database system since 1996 are now available electronically at the University of Iowa Libraries web site, gateway.lib.uiowa.edu. For access, select "Indexes" and click on the link for ERIC Document Reproduction Service. The database focuses on education-related topics but also covers many other subject areas such as psychology, social sciences, health education, recreation and leisure, communications, and personnel issues.
