University of Iowa News Services

Get the scoop at www.uiowa.edu/~ournews

When Iowa makes the news, it’s no accident. Of course, there’s a lot of newsworthy research, high achievement, and innovation around here. But it takes a concerted effort to get those things into the headlines.

That’s where the UI News Services comes in.

These are the folks who write the press releases, contact the media, and keep track of all the times UI is mentioned in the press, on television and radio, and on news web sites. To find out what’s new, and what’s news, at Iowa, check out www.uiowa.edu/~ournews.

Want to read what the reporters are reading before they actually publish it? Check out the current news releases on the site. You can also dip into the archives to see what was new as far back as 1996. And if you’re interested in seeing how far-reaching Iowa’s fame is, click on "national news clippings" to see where UI faculty, staff, and alumni have been quoted or mentioned in the national media recently.

If you know of a newspaper or magazine that’s mentioned the University of Iowa recently, submit a clipping to the News Service electronically from the site. And if your department has a newsworthy event or achievement, click "submit news."

And, as the late John Gielgud said in Arthur, "Alert the media."
