C. Tom Foster,
associate professor of geoscience, elected as fellow of the Geological Society of America.

Keela Herr, associate professor of nursing, named an Academic Leadership Program 2000-01 Fellow by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation.

The Hydraulics Laboratory at the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research, named an American Water Landmark by the American Water Works Association.

Cynthia Lewis, assistant professor of education, named a 2000-01 Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow by the National Academy of Education.

Ken Phillips, professor of music education, named one of 12 "Accomplished Music Teachers" by the Iowa Music Educators Association.

Paul Pomrehn, professor of community and behavioral health, elected chair of the Governor’s Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Commission.

Janet Specht, assistant professor of nursing, elected to the American Academy of Nursing.

Myron Welch, professor of music and director of bands, named one of 12 "Accomplished Music Teachers" by the Iowa Music Educators Association.

Paul Yedlik, manager of Biochemistry Stores, named Outstanding Scientific Materials Manager of the Year for 2000 by the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers.
