Elder care guidance available

Staff from Elder Services, Inc., will be on campus Dec. 12 for "One-on-one elder care guidance, information, and referral," a service that provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to discuss their elder caregiving responsibilities privately with a nurse or a social worker.

To arrange an appointment—up to one hour in length—with Elder Services, contact Jane Holland, Family Services Office, at jane-holland@uiowa.edu or (33)5-1371. If Dec. 12 is not convenient, other arrangements are possible.

Intramural league signups

Faculty, staff, and students can sign up for intramural men’s and women’s soccer teams through Dec. 15 at Recreational Services. Cost is $30 per team. Games will be on Monday and Wednesday nights in the practice bubble and will begin Jan. 22.

Registration forms are available at E216 FH. For more information, call (33)5-9293.

Info Arcade classroom signups

The Main Library’s Information Arcade Electronic Classroom is available to be reserved for summer 2001. Priority will be given to instructors who submit requests before Dec. 31.

The classroom features 24 student workstations, each with access to either MacOS9 or Windows 2000 environments.

Various levels of staff support are available to instructors. For more information or to request the Information Arcade classroom, visit www.lib.uiowa.edu/arcade or contact Ann Khan at annadora-khan@uiowa.edu or (33)5-5447.

Workshop on understanding nonprofits

The Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) will sponsor "Nonprofit financial management basics," a workshop for board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and anyone who wants to understand better the fiscal aspects of a nonprofit organization, from 9am to noon, Dec. 9, in the Iowa Room IMU.

Presenter Kate Tarpey will address topics such as taxes, the budgeting process, how to read financial statements, and understanding the financial management of your nonprofit organization.

The workshop is part of WRAC’s ongoing Social Change Training series. To register or for more information, call (33)5-1486.
