InSite: Hardin Meta Directory keeps winning prizes
Iowa’s Hardin Meta Directory (Hardin MD) of Internet Health Sources at www.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/md has been called one of the best such resources in existence. The Dec. 4 issue of U.S. News & World Report included a special report on the best web sites. In the category of health sites, the Hardin Meta Directory was called the "healthcare list of lists."
What sets the site apart from others is its completeness and high standards of information. Hardin MD is not a direct source of medical information. Rather, it’s a directory of the best web sites on all kinds of medical specialty topics. The sites listed are not only extensive, they’re also carefully monitored. If a site is not well maintained, Hardin MD will drop it. For example, if a site fails to maintain its own links, and more than 20 percent of those links become inactive, Hardin MD will no longer include that site in the directory.
