MLK Jr. Human Rights Week continues through Jan. 29

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Week, The University of Iowa is offering a series of conferences and other on-campus activities, which began with a Kick-Off Celebration on Jan. 16 and will continue through Jan. 29. Events still to come include a Jan. 28 performance and reading by actors Danny Glover and Felix Justice and Infinite Respect, Enduring Dignity: Voices and Visions on the September Attacks, a conference on Jan. 25 and 26 that will pay tribute to the Sept. 11 bombings and its aftermath through various panel discussions. Congressman James Leach is the keynote speaker, with choreographer Bill T. Jones; Mary Gilchrist, director of the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory; Christopher Rossi, lecturer in international law; and Christopher Merrill, director, International Writing Program also scheduled to participate.
