Arts and Humanities Initiative applications due

The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the Provost are pleased to announce the Arts and Humanities Initiative (AHI) Program competition for projects to be conducted during the 2002-2003 academic year. AHI is a special recurring, state supported grants program dedicated to the support of humanities scholarship and work in the creative, visual, and performing arts. Eligibility includes all UI tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty, as well as all full-time professional and scientific staff members with a graduate degree or equivalent and a record of professional achievement in the arts or humanities.

Three types of grant support will be available. AHI Standard Grants are for individual or collaborative projects and provide up to $7,500 per award. AHI Conference Grants provide up to $10,000 per award. Limited funding also is available for conferences and symposia. AHI Major Projects Grants may be awarded to one or two projects of special magnitude and positive impact and will provide up to $50,000 per award.

The deadline for submission of applications is March 4.

Those who believe they may be qualified to apply to the AHI, but have not received an announcement via campus mail, or would like further information after receiving the announcement, should contact Larry Rettig, Office of the Vice President for Research, 201 GILH, lawrence-rettig@uiowa.edu, (33)5-2119.
