Medical Museum offers Latino exhibit

The Medical Museum at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will hold an opening reception for its new exhibition, Salud! Latinos at Home and at Work, 4:30-6:30pm, May 8, at the Patient and Visitor Activities Center, Gallery B, JCP (eighth floor).

The exhibition, prepared by museum staff, promotes an understanding of Latinos living in Iowa and the United States. It features interactive exhibits as well as an explanation of health issues faced by Latinos.

For more information, contact the Medical Museum at (35)6-7106.

Elder care guidance

Family Services will be sponsoring one-on-one elder care guidance, information, and referral.

Staff from Elder Services, Inc., will be on the east side of campus May 7 and June 4 and the west side of campus May 14 and June 18 to discuss concerns faculty and staff may have about their elder parents. Sessions of up to one hour will be available 1-5pm each day.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Jane Holland at (33)5-1371 or jane-holland@uiowa.edu.

Teach your kids to save

The Iowa Women’s Foundation, Women’s Resource and Action Center, and the Iowa City Public Library will continue the 2001-02 Women and Money series with “Kids and money,” 6:30-8:30pm, May 16, in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library.

Janet Garkey, Johnson County Extension office, will discuss how to talk to children about effective saving and spending strategies, how to plan for long-term goals, and how financial responsibility works to determine the true value of a dollar.

Although the workshops in this series are developed for women, everyone is welcome to attend. Preregistration is strongly encouraged. For more information or to register, call 337-4222 or e-mail Lisa Outlaw at lisa@iawf.org.
