Campaign kickoff features
roundtable, announcement

The University of Iowa would not be the world-class university it is today without the many contributions of faculty and staff. For that reason, members of the faculty, staff, and the entire UI community are invited to take part in a celebration of the University's promising future.

The University publicly launches its comprehensive fund-raising campaign June 8 with two special events that celebrate life and learning at Iowa:

At 10:30 a.m. in Macbride Auditorium, a roundtable discussion entitled "The Power of Perception" will provide an opportunity to enjoy a multidisciplinary exchange among several of Iowa's top scholars. Participants include Amitava Bhattacharjee, physics and astronomy; Diana Cates, religion; Marcella David, law; Gerhard Loewenberg, political science; Chris Merrill, International Writing Program; Jerry Schnoor, civil and environmental engineering; and Daniel Tranel, neurology. Marvin Bell, Writers' Workshop faculty member and Iowa's poet laureate, will begin the program with a brief reading, and KSUI's Joan Kjaer will moderate. The event is free and open to the public.

At 3 p.m, Hancher Auditorium will host the special campaign announcement, a multimedia program showcasing the University's achievements and aspirations. At this event, audience members will learn the dollar goal of the University's comprehensive campaign and hear how much progress has been made. The Hancher event is also free and open to the public, and faculty, staff, students, and community members are encouraged to attend.
