Paul Abramowitz, professor of clinical and administrative pharmacy, appointed by Gov. Tom Vilsack to a second term on the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners.

Academic Advising Center, recipient of an award from the National Academic Advising Association for its "Introduction to Academics" program.

Nancy C. Andreasen, professor of psychiatry, selected as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Fred Antczak, professor of rhetoric, recipient of a Citation Award from the Iowa Communication Association.

Joel Gordon, associate professor of internal medicine, recipient of the Laureate Award from the Iowa chapter of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine.

E. Peter Greenberg, professor of microbiology, selected as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Herman A. Hein, professor of pediatrics, recipient of the 2002 Merit Award from the Iowa Medical Society.

Charles Helms, professor of internal medicine, reelected to and named chair of the Iowa Medical Society's board of directors.

John Kimmich Javier, associate professor of journalism and mass communication, recipient of an Award of Excellence in the Pictures of the Year international competition sponsored by the University of Missouri School of Journalism and three awards for sports photos, including first-place sports feature, second-place pictorial, and honorable mention sports action, from the Iowa Press Photographers Association.

Kee-Deog Kim, visiting associate professor of oral and maxillofacial radiology, recipient of an Honorable Mention Award at the 2002 Society for Computer Applications in Radiology Congress.

William Miller, professor of clinical and administrative pharmacy, selected as a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Larry Prybil, associate dean for external relations, College of Public Health, one of 51 health care leaders featured in Careers in Healthcare Management: How to Find Your Path and Follow It, published in March by the Health Administration Press.

Galen Schneider, professor of prosthodontics, recipient of the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award from the Iowa Dental Association.

Siroos Shirazi, professor of surgery, elected as an alternate delegate from the Iowa Medical Society to the American Medical Association House of Delegates.

University of Iowa, recipient of two Certificates of Recognition from the City of Iowa City Historic Preservation Commission for the renovation of the Old Biology Building and the modernization of the Hydraulics Lab.

Scott Vogelgesang, associate professor of internal medicine, elected to lifetime membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society.
