WRAC group forms

A discussion group called Heart’s Desire begins July 9 at the Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC). It will meet at WRAC from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The group helps women become aware of what they most desire in their lives and to work toward fulfilling those desires.

There is no charge for group participation but a suggested donation of $10 for the entire group. For more information, call (33)5-1486.

Free diabetes screening

Adults who are at risk for developing diabetes may receive a free risk assessment, fasting blood glucose test, lipid profile (cholesterol), and physician’s recommendations for follow-up of test results.

You are at risk to develop diabetes if you: have a family member with diabetes; are overweight; had diabetes during pregnancy; delivered a baby that weighed over 9 pounds; or are Native American or Hispanic.

Early detection and intervention are among the ways to maintain good health. Make an appointment for a free screening by calling UI Health Access at (38)4-8442.

For information about the new REACH eight-week program to reduce risks for diabetes, call (35)6-2663.
