Center events focus on teaching

The Center for Teaching will sponsor several events this month:

Workshops for DEOs offered

The Office of the Provost has scheduled a number of workshops this semester as part of its DEO Professional Development Series:

“Negotiating departmental change,”
Feb. 13, 1:30-4pm, S401 PBB
Learn and practice skills needed to implement a major change in a department.

“Stress and time management”
March 7, 8-11am, 283 EMRB
Learn to identify and understand stress, develop a stress-reduction plan, and find balance between personal and professional lives.

“Conflict of interest” (two sessions)
April 16, 9-10:30am 2189 MERF or
April 16, 2-3:30pm, S401 PBB
The University’s Conflict of Interest Policy has been revised to bring it into alignment with national trends and to make it easier to understand. All DEOs are expected to attend one of the two sessions.

WRAC offers new groups, workshops

The Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) has several workshops scheduled this month and has begun a number of new discussion groups:

• “Planning events for social change,” 7-9pm, Feb. 18, 351 IMU, is the latest workshop in the Social Change Training Program.

• “Home buying,” 6:30-8:30pm, Feb. 20, Meeting Room A in the Iowa City Public Library, is the latest seminar in the Women and Money Series. It is cosponsored by the Iowa Women’s Foundation. To register for this event, call the foundation at 337-4222.

• New discussion groups for the spring semester range from “Single hip mamas” to “Facing discrimination post 9/11” to “Dealing with divorce.” To see the full list of groups, visit the website at www.uiowa.edu/~wrac.
