Learn about finances

The Family Financial Series, sponsored by the Family Services Office, will offer a class to explain what a financial durable power of attorney is and why it is important to have one, 3:30-4:30pm, May 7.

Sheldon Kurtz, professor of law, will lead the session. To register, contact Jane Holland, (33)5-1371 or jane-holland@uiowa.edu.

Enroll for nTITLE

Faculty members may enroll for weeklong, intensive workshops on instructional technology called nTITLE—New Technologies in the Learning Environment. Classes, held once a year, are scheduled May 19-June 19.

In the workshops, faculty discuss and share existing instructional strategies and learn about new ones, such as problem-based learning and cognitive apprenticeship. They progress through a series of coached, hands-on activities to learn new software tools.

For more information, contact the nTITLE office in the Center for Teaching, (33)5-6048, e-mail wilfrid-nixon@uiowa.edu, or visit the web site at http://www.uiowa.edu/~ntitle/.

Time to renew, return

Library items due June 1 and checked out on a faculty loan may now be renewed for the next academic year. They may be returned to or renewed at any library except for the Law Library and the Curriculum Lab.

Faculty may view the list of items checked out to them by using the “Your Circulation Info” option in InfoHawk. Library staff can provide the list to faculty members who show an ID card.

Pair up to TWIST

Applications are being accepted for fall 2003 TWIST course web site partnerships. TWIST, a University Libraries program, pairs a faculty member with a librarian to develop web resource pages for specific courses. Staff help faculty learn to develop and maintain the course sites.

For more information, see http://twist.lib.uiowa.edu/twist/courses/application or contact Ericka A. Raber, (33)5-5945 or ericka-raber@uiowa.edu.
