ITS to offer technology workshops

Spaces still are available in the NExTT (New Experiences with Technology in Teaching) workshops scheduled for Jan. 6-10, 2003.

These workshops, presented by ITS Academic Technologies, offer instructors and instructional support staff hands-on practice with a variety of software, including WebCT, Blackboard, Dream-weaver, Fireworks, PowerPoint, Professor’s Assistant, and web video preparation tools.

For more information, visit www.its.uiowa.edu/at/nextt.

TWIST web sites available

Applications are being accepted for spring 2003 TWIST course web sites. TWIST, which stands for Teaching with Innovative Style and Technology, is a UI Libraries program that promotes faculty-librarian collaboration, encourages the use of information technology to enhance teaching, and facilitates the use of course-
related library resources. TWIST staff provides instruction for faculty members to develop and maintain course web sites.

TWIST guidelines and an application form are available at http://twist.lib.uiowa.edu/twist/courses/application/index.html. For more information, contact Ericka A. Raber, (33)5-5945 or ericka-raber@uiowa.edu.

Family consulting available

If you have questions concerning the growth, health, or development of someone you care about—a child, partner, parent, or friend—check out “Growing and Developing Through the Years.” The program provides free one-on-one consulting to help faculty and staff members solve problems.

To schedule a private, one-hour appointment between 1-5pm on Jan. 8 or Feb. 5, contact Brenda Brenneman, (35)6-1123 or brenda-brenneman@uiowa.edu. To learn more, contact Jane Holland, (33)5-1371 or jane-holland@uiowa.edu.

The service is available though the Center for Disabilities and Development, UI Hospitals and Clinics, and the Family Services Office.

Reserve reading lists

The Main Library now is accepting Reserve Reading lists for the spring semester. Faculty members who have not received forms may obtain them from their departmental librarian or from Reserve Services in the Main Library. For more information, call your departmental library or Reserve Services at (33)5-5913.
