Kite Runner chosen for book project

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini has been selected for the fourth annual Johnson County Reads program, sponsored by the UI Center for Human Rights.

The Kite Runner is an epic tale of fathers and sons, friendship and betrayal, that takes readers from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the atrocities of the present. Many public discussions will be scheduled during the project, Sept. 19-Nov. 13, at a number of different locations. Teachers, librarians, book groups, and others are encouraged to participate. Questions will be available online at www.uichr.org at the start of the 2004-05 academic year.
