This month, the College of Dentistry begins celebrating The University of Iowa's 125-year-old tradition of dental care, research, and outreach.
More than 80 percent of the state’s practicing dentists are alumni of the UI College of Dentistry, which provides a strong curriculum in problem-based and experiential learning, dentistry for geriatric patients and adults with special needs, and outreach in Iowa communities.
The college's impact on dentistry goes beyond training—research plays a key role as well. Over the past three decades, the college has emerged as an international leader in research on tooth decay, fluoride, and cleft palate and other craniofacial anomalies.

The University of Iowa is replacing its 30-year-old homegrown mainframe-based student information system with a new web system. Sponsored by the UI Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, the system is called MAUI, an acronym for Made at the University of Iowa.
More than two dozen productions each school year give UI theatre arts students hands-on experience in acting, directing, set and costume design, lighting, playwriting, sound, and stage management. fyi takes a look backstage at E.C. Mabie Theatre.
Contrary to the old Eddie Cochran song, members of the fyi staff think there is a cure for the summertime blues—and it’s called music. So what's going to rock your sandals off this summer?
Take the new fyi reader survey at http://survey.uiowa
We’ll run responses in an early summer edition of fyi. The survey is designed to keep all answers anonymous, but if you’d like the editors to attribute your responses, include your name and UI position in the survey text box.
