Staging area
To understand theatre, every actor needs experience backstage, according to the students who in April helped set up and run an E.C. Mabie Theatre production of August Strindberg’s Ghost Sonata, which featured live performances by the UI Maia Quartet (last photo). More than two dozen productions each school year give UI theatre arts students hands-on experience in acting, directing, set and costume design, lighting, playwriting, sound, and stage management.
