Offices and Awards
Sam Burer, management sciences, received an Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation.
Jane Chalmers, preventive and community dentistry, won the Australian Dental Journal’s Most Outstanding Scientific Article award.
Sandra Bowman Damico, dean of the College of Education, was named chair-elect of Organization of Institutional Affiliates, a policy group of the American Education Research Association. Damico was also elected vice-chair of the Midwestern Regional Educational Lab Executive Committee.
Jo Eland, nursing, received the President's Award from the Association for Pain Management Nurses.
R. William Field, occupational and environmental health and epidemiology, Charles Lynch, epidemiology, and Brian Smith, biostatistics, participated in the College of Public Health’s Heartland Radon Research and Education Program, which received a 2006 Children’s Health Recognition Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Children’s Health Protection.
Michael Finkelstein, oral pathology, radiology, and medicine, received the 2006 Iowa Dental Association President’s Award.
Keela Herr, nursing, was bestowed fellowship status in the American Geriatric Society.

David Jepsen, counselor education, received the Extended Research Award from the American Counseling Association.
Jennifer Joslin, academic advising center, was elected chair of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, & Allies Concerns Commission of the National Academic Advising Association.
Linda Kerber, history, was named to the American Philosophical Society.
Won-Chan Lee, center for advanced studies in measurement and assessment, received the 2006 Bradley Hanson Award from the National Council on Measurement in Education.
Steven Levy, preventive and community dentistry and epidemiology, was named a director of the American Board of Dental Public Health.
Deb Liddell, counseling, rehabilitation, and student development, was elected chair of the American College Personnel Association’s Commission on Professional Preparation.
Murray Madsen, occupational and environmental health, was elected president of the National Institute for Farm Safety Inc.

Gary Sasso, teaching and learning, received a 2006 Outstanding Leadership Award from the Midwest Symposium for Leadership in Behavioral Disorders.
Kathy Schuh, psychological and quantitative foundations, was named a Distinguished Member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Richard Shields, physical therapy and rehabilitation science, was named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow by the American Physical Therapy Association.
