Offices and Awards

Julie Andsager, journalism and mass communication, received the award for top faculty paper in the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Mass Communication and Society Division competition.

Pam Creedon, journalism and mass communication, was elected to the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Stacey Cyphert, UIHC administration, was voted chair-elect of the Government Relations Representatives of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Marlys Dunphy, preventive and community dentistry, received the 2006 Iowa Dietetic Association Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award.

Julie Eichenberger Gilmore, preventative and community dentistry, received the Mary P. Huddleson Award, which honors the Journal of the American Dietetic Association’s best article of the year.

Tatsuaki Nakato, civil and environmental engineering, was awarded the 2006 Hydraulic Structures Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Art Nowak, pediatric dentistry, received the Manuel M. Album Award from the American Association for Pediatric Dentistry.

Lawrence Prybil, health management and policy, was elected to the Center for Healthcare Governance board of directors.

Jodi Saunders, counseling, rehabilitation, and student development, was elected chair of the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.

Jane Singer, journalism and mass communication, received the Professional Relevance Award, given to the paper with the most relevance to working professionals in mass media, from the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and was awarded top faculty paper in the Media Ethics Division.

Kaaren Vargas, pediatric dentistry, received the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Foundation Research Award.
