University introduces career advising serviceHuman Resources has introduced a new service to help UI staff members in their professional career development. The Career Development Advising Service is a free and confidential service to help UI staff members identify career goals, develop new skills, search for advancement opportunities, and even take their careers in new directions. During one-on-one consultation, a UI career advisor can help you:
Since its inception in early June, more than 80 staff members have already met with Kathryn Wynes, a career service advisor in Human Resources, and many continue to work with her, further refining their resumes, cover letters, and search strategies. “I never cease to be amazed at the range of talent, intelligence, and skill in the University’s talent pool,” Wynes says. “Our employees have a genuine desire to be the best professionals they can possibly be. I get to meet new, interesting people every day. Each has their own story and dream. If I can help them, I am thrilled. My goal is to find the right niche for everyone so that they will be happy and productive and the University will keep its collective wisdom here.” To find out more and request an appointment, send an e-mail to uiemployee-careeradvising@uiowa.edu or call (33)5-5648.
