In January, we put out a call to University of Iowa faculty and staff, asking for examples of cubicles with character, offices with ambience, or something beyond the typical framed family photo or motivational poster.
What we found: a shrine to the Hawkeyes (and former football player Bob Sanders in particular); frogs, moose (the plural is not "meese," as a certain fyi editor might be known to say), and Stupid Sock Creatures; and an entire wall full of pop-culture.
Take a peek at your fellow coworkers and their unique sense of style. And be sure to check out this issue's photo feature for a detailed look at these colorful collections.

Are you a sultry siren performing solo? Are you banging out a band's backbeat? Regardless of your role or genre, if you're making music, we'd love to hear from you. Take a moment to fill out the following survey: http://survey.uiowa.edu/wsb.dll/505/musicsurvey.htm. We might launch you to superstardom! (No promises, though.)

| Jane Schildroth |

For someone who as a youth couldn’t unload her Girl Scout cookies, Jane Schildroth seems to have gotten the hang of making a strong sales pitch. Schildroth, director of corporate and community relations in the University of Iowa Pomerantz Career Center, is making inroads with companies and organizations across the country, which has led to more employers hitting the career center’s numerous annual career fairs. She talks with fyi about her busy itinerary, her own career path, and what sort of role faculty and staff can play in helping students find their calling.

“You need to look at taking care of a vulnerable joint the way you take care of your teeth. When my patients say, 'I can't do that,' I say, 'Well, you brush your teeth every day.'"
Joseph Buckwalter
