Shared Governance Council to offer two open forums on proposed benefits changesThe University of Iowa Shared Governance Council will present two open forums on the proposed UI benefits changes from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, June 6, in C20 Pomerantz Center, and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, in 1110A Medical Education Research Facility. Representatives from the Funded Retirement and Insurance Committee (FRIC) will present a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation followed by an open forum discussion period. Representatives from Human Resources will also be available to answer questions. A member of the Shared Governance Council will moderate the events. The Shared Governance Council is made up of the leadership of UI Faculty Senate, Staff Council, Graduate Student Senate, and Student Government. University staff and faculty not able to attend one of the open forums noted above may share comments or concerns about the proposed changes with UI administration by way of the Human Resources information site, www.uiowa.edu/hr/benefits/benefits09/index.html. This site contains information on the guiding principles for a new benefits program design, answers to frequently asked questions, and examples of monthly projections based on the FRIC proposal. by Charles S.
