Fresh faces get the boot at band camp

Hawkeye Marching Band members must be in good shape—the woodwinds can't be winded, and huffin' and puffin' is not good for percussion. To keep the musicians sharp and the notes from falling flat, new recruits are run through the paces during the first few days of band camp.
