University puts the brakes on parking rate increases

Parking rates will not increase for staff, faculty, students, and the general public in the coming year, says David Ricketts, director of UI parking and transportation.

“We looked at all the other pressures on the community and decided that we would just take a break from increases for the year,” he said.

What's new on the University's budget updates web site?

The University of Iowa's budget updates web site has been busy over the past 10 days. Updates include a statement from Board of Regents, State of Iowa, president David Miles on employee salaries, and more than 180 budget-cutting and cost-saving suggestions submitted by faculty, staff, and students.

Students not only ones enjoying University of Iowa's alternative spring break options

Although Iowans often associate “spring break” with travels to warmer climates, many members of the University of Iowa community will be staying closer to home this year in order to participate in a Cedar Rapids flood-recovery project that will help aid those still in need of post-flood cleanup.

Other staff members will lead courses offered through UI Recreational Services, courses that involve scuba diving in Florida, mountain biking in Utah, backpacking through national and state parks, becoming acquainted with bouldering, and dancing up a storm in ballroom and Latin styles.

Photo feature: A small dose of what happens at UI Pharmaceuticals

Even though the name and structure of the department is relatively new, University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals is no stranger to the world of drug product manufacturing. It has the most experienced university-based drug manufacturing facilities registered with the Food and Drug Administration, and much of its work involves mass-producing medications into dosage forms for use in clinical studies in humans.
