Business students give back to community through Tippie Build 2

Habitat for Humanity home
 

More than 100 students from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity for Tippie Build 2, a project that will result in a new home for a local family of six. As is the case for all Habitat homes, the homeowner of the Tippie Build house will pay a zero-interest mortgage back to Habitat for Humanity.

Photo feature: Having a blast in physics and astronomy

It's one thing to read about acoustics, perpetual motion, and heat and fluids, but seeing these principles demonstrated is something altogether different—and awesome, if you ask us. Dale Stille and the rest of the instructional resources team in the Department of Physics and Astronomy put together quite a show for students of all ages.

Dale Stille knows how to liven up a physics classroom. For the past 23 years, Stille has coordinated instructional resources and outreach activities for the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Iowa. His work supplements UI professors’ teachings, and he takes his show on the road to science classrooms in schools throughout Iowa, entertaining and educating audiences ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. Stille sat down with fyi to discuss his favorite demonstrations, his fondness for Iowa City, and the treasures he finds in University Surplus.
