AchievementsUniversity staff and faculty are accomplishing great things every day. See Offices and AwardsClar Baldus, program associate in the College of Education, received the Iowa and Gifted Association Distinguished Service Award for 2009. R. William Field, professor of occupational and environmental health and epidemiology in the College of Public Health, was appointed to the Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health. Sadie Greiner, associate director for planning, design, and construction in Facilities Management, has been named a Forty Under 40 Award honoree for 2009 by the Corridor Business Journal. Brian Hand, professor of science education in the College of Education, was inducted into the Iowa Academy of Education in a ceremony at the University of Northern Iowa. Andrew Kusiak, professor of mechanical and industrial engineering in the College of Engineering, has been appointed to the editorial board of the new journal IEEE Trans on Sustainable Energy. Debora Liddell, associate professor and program coordinator for the Student Development Program in the College of Education, has been recognized as a Diamond Honoree by the American College Personnel Association Foundation. John Lundell, deputy director of the Injury Prevention Research Center and professor of occupational and environmental health in the College of Public Health, was elected to a second term as treasurer of the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association. Carroll Reasoner, interim vice president for legal affairs and general counsel, received the Pillar of the Community award from Waypoint Services for Women, Children, and Families. Jerry Schnoor, Allen S. Henry Chair in Engineering and professor of civil and environmental engineering in the College of Engineering, and two students have won a SERDP/ESTCP Project of the Year award from the U.S. Department of Defense. Iowa Alumni Magazine received a silver award in this year’s Pride of CASE V awards in the Excellence in Feature Writing, Individual category for the article “House of Cards” (written by Tina Owen, edited by Kathryn Howe).
