The Jason Chen Faith and Learning Scholarship The Geneva Campus Ministry Board (GCMB) announces the Jason Chen Faith and Learning
Scholarship for an undergraduate student beginning his or her studies at the University of Iowa. The Scholarship honors Rev. Jason Chen’s lifetime of ministry to the University of Iowa. Jason grounded his ministry in his belief that faith and learning go hand in hand -- each supports and encourages the other. In honor of that ministry, the GCMB will annually recognize an incoming undergraduate student to the University of Iowa who embodies that belief.
The Scholarship
- A one-year, $500 award
- Renewable for up to three additional years, for a total of $2,000
Award Criteria The scholarship will be awarded by GCMB on the basis of the student’s
- Dedication to Jesus Christ and the historic Christian faith
- Commitment to academic excellence
- Vision of how his/her faith informs their academic endeavors
Application Procedure
- Applicants must submit a cover letter or e-mail letter with the following information: name, address, phone number(s), e-mail address, high schools and colleges attended/attending, and status of UI application.
- Applicants must submit (by regular mail or e-mail attachment) a single-spaced, one-page personal statement which addresses the three criteria above.
- Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation (from unrelated persons) which speak to the applicant’s dedication, commitment, and vision as described above. One letter should be from a pastor or youth minister.
- In order to guarantee consideration, all materials must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2006. The cover letter, statement, and letters of recommendation should be sent to:

Award Procedure
- The GCMB will begin considering applications on February 15. Applications may be considered at any time until the Board has awarded the scholarship.
- The GCMB will inform applicants of its decision by April 1.
