Richard B. Hayes is the George Washington Ivey professor of New Testament at The Divinity School of Duke University. He is a leader in the filed of New Testament Studies and is internationally recognized for his work on the letters of Paul and on New Testament Ethics. His scholarly work bridges the disciplines of biblical criticism, theology, and literary studies, exploring the innovative ways in which early Christian writers interpreted Israel's Scripture. His book The Moral Vision of the New Testament: Community, Cross, New Creation was selected by Christianity Today as one of the 100 most important religious books of the 20th century. Professor hays' other books include The Faith of Jesus Christ, Echoes of Scripture in the Letters of Paul, First Corinthians, (Interpretation Commentaries), and The Letters to the Galatians (New Interpreter's Bible). His work has been translated into many languages including German, Spanish, Italian, Korean and Chinese. An ordained United Methodist minister, he has preached in settings ranging from rural Oklahoma churches to London's Westminster Abbey.
