Arthur F. Holmes taught philosophy and was chair of the department
at Wheaton College until his retirement in 1994. During his
long and distinguished tenure at Wheaton which spans more than four
decades, he stimulated and challenged the thinking of his colleagues
and students in integrating academic training with their Christian
faith. Dr. Holmes is the author and editor of many books, including
Contours of a World View (Eerdmans 1983), Ethics:
Approaching Moral Decisions (InterVarsity Press, 1984), The
Making of a Christian Mind (InterVarsity Press, 1985), Faith
Seeks Understanding: A Christian Approach to Knowledge, All
Truth is God's Truth, and Christian Philosophy in the 20th
Century. He is a frequent lecturer at colleges and universities
and is a director of the Institute for the Advancement of Christian
Studies. Dr. Holmes' current interest is the history of the
influence and contributions of Christians in higher education.
