Christian Writers’ Group Activities

Decisions about the functioning of the group, 5/20/06

1.  Goals of the group include encouragement, accountability, feedback, and delight as

we share our work with others who share our faith.  We want to praise and honor

            God through our writing.

2.  The group will normally meet once a month.

3.  Each person is asked to bring to each meeting either:

a.  A piece of his or her work, whether finished or “in progress,” or

b.  A piece of someone else’s work that he/she enjoys.

We should feel free to say that we have not had time to do an original piece, rather

than try to dash something off at the last minute before a meeting.  Each should bring

enough copies of the piece for all those attending.

4.  Some would prefer not to see other members’ work (especially poetry) in advance,

while others would be open to it.  Those who wish to circulate their work in

advance of a meeting may do by email to those who would like to receive it.

5.  Some simply prefer encouragement to write, and others would like more feedback on

content.  Each member should ask for the kind of response s/he desires.

6.  For the time being, at least, we will have one group across genre and geographical

boundaries.  Later we may decide to divide at least some of our meetings.
