GIScience

Geographic inquiry leads to an examination of how and why phenomena (e.g., landscapes, migrating wildlife, or the spread of a disease) vary across space and time. Geographers interested in GIScience study and develop methodologies to address the unique challenges associated with the analysis and modeling of these types of phenomena using the latest computer systems and technologies.

GIScience at Iowa offers students the opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts in GIScience in the
US and participate in a program that is both exciting and cutting edge.

Some of the areas of research in GIScience at Iowa include:

·         Agent-based geosimulation modeling
