ICIGO founder, Veena Patel, selected as 2011 Truman Scholar!

Veena Patel has been named a 2011 Truman Scholar by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Patel is majoring in Geography and pursuing a certificate in Sustainability Studies.

Iowa Community Integrated Geography Organization


ICIGO is the University of Iowa Geography program's means of integrating our diverse skill sets in an effort to reach out to our community to create positive change through service learning.

ICIGO consists of students from various research backgrounds coming together to work on projects intimately link to the sustainability of the Iowa City community and state of Iowa.  We currently partner with non-governmental organizations, the university community, and city and state government agencies to promote the access to geographic data, and advance sustainability efforts while gaining experience in project management, Geographic Information Science, as well as spatial analyses, visualization, and methods crucial to sustainability science.
