SGE meeting this Tuesday (the 9th) at 7 pm in room 135 (the mineralogy lab room). We're going to finish discussing the theme for this year's haunted house and get officers elected. If you're interested in joining SGE and can't make the meeting, e-mail me and we'll get something figured out so you can help out and be a member.  For all you new kids, SGE is an honor society for geology students.  We have two big projects we do each year, both are coming up quickly. First, there is a picnic we put on for the alumni on the last Saturday in September out at the reservoir in Coralville. The second (and most fun), is the haunted house we put on for kids in the community. This year it's going to be the week before. For this we decorate Trowbridge and have different rooms with geology themed fun going on.  Overall SGE is a small time commitment. Being a member of SGE looks good on grad school resumes, gets the undergrads involved with the faculty and grad students, and helps keep the department strong and active.  Tawny Bailey
