- Geodynamics and tectonics of collisional orogens, with emphasis on the the Appalachian–Caledonian mountain belt.
- Structures associated with high-pressure metamorphism and subsequent exhumation of overthickened crust.
- Deformation micromechanisms, material properties and rheology of rocks.
