Graduate Student Admissions
The deadline for applications for admission is January 15.
Only complete applications will be considered. Complete
applications consist of:
- A completed application form and fee
- A written statement of purpose
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- GRE scores
International students must also take the TOEFL exam.
Applicants should take GRE and TOEFL (where required) examinations
and have the scores sent to us before January 15 to ensure
timely consideration of their application.
We recommend that you complete field camp before you begin
our graduate program.
Minimum Requirements for Admission
- Applicants for admission must hold a bachelor's degree
from a college or university accredited by a regional
accrediting association.
- Masters Program: A 3.0 GPA or a total of 1100 or above
on the combined verbal and quantitative portions, and
4.5 or above on the analytical writing portion of the
Graduate Record Exam taken since October 1, 2002 (or a
total of 1600 or above on the combined verbal, quantitative
and analytical portions of the Graduate Record Exam taken
before October 1, 2002). The GPA is computed on undergraduate
plus graduate work if the student has completed less than
12 semester hours (s.h.) of graduate work; it is computed
on graduate work if a student has earned 12 or more hours
of graduate credit at the time of admission. Conditional
admission may be considered for those with a GPA above
2.3.
- Doctoral Program: A graduate GPA of 3.2 (if 12 s.h.
or more of graduate course work), a cumulative GPA of
3.0 (if fewer than 12 s.h. of graduate course work), or
a total of 1100 or above on the combined verbal and quantitative
portions, and 4.5 or above on the analytical writing portion
of the Graduate Record Exam taken since October 1, 2002
(or a total of 1600 or above on the combined verbal, quantitative
and analytical portions of the Graduate Record Exam taken
before October 1, 2002). The GPA is computed on undergraduate
plus graduate work if the student has completed less than
12 semester hours (s.h.) of graduate work; it is computed
on graduate work if a student has earned 12 or more hours
of graduate credit at the time of admission. Conditional
admission may be considered for those with a graduate
GPA of 3.0 (if 12 s.h. or more of graduate course work)
or a cumulative GPA of 2.7 (if fewer than 12 s.h. of graduate
course work).
