I am a graduate student in Second Language Acquisition/ FLARE and a teaching assistant in the German Department. Originally I am from a small town in Thüringen (East Germany). I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Greifswald and then continued studying at the University of Leipzig, where I received my M.A. in Teaching German as a Foreign Language. Before coming to the University of Iowa, I also studied German literature and worked as a German TA at the University of Arizona. My research interests include foreign language pedagogy and language assessment and evaluation. Currently I am examining test formats to assess vocabulary knowledge of second language learners of German. I am involved with FLAREs (the student organization of the FLARE students) and the German Society.
