The Department of German mourns the loss of Prof. Jim Pusack, who passed away of a heart attack on December 30. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has posted a Faculty Memorial on its website honoring Prof. Pusack’s long and successful career: http://www.clas.uiowa.edu/faculty/memorials/pusack.shtml. 	Kaffeestunde is the German Department's weekly coffee and conversation hour, held Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 in 612 Phillips Hall. This is an excellent opportunity to practice speaking German with students, professors, and people from the community in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Coffee, tea, and delicious desserts and snacks are provided. Sie sind herzlich eingeladen!


	The German Department's Fußballmeisterschaft is a biannual event, which started in the 2004-5 school year, and is held during the Fall and Spring semesters. Many of the lower and upper level German classes enter a team, make a team t-shirt and give up one Saturday in order to determine who will be the champion. There is always a great turn out and the students have a lot of fun.
