GHS Activities:
Faculty meeting representatives -- (GHS sends two reps, one studying U.S. History and one studying a non-U.S. field to the monthly faculty meetings. The reps send a report of discussion at the meeting to GHS members via the listserv.) Graduate Student Senate representatives -- (GHS has two senators, one from a U.S. field of study and one from a non-U.S. field of study. If enrollment increases, there might be an additional senator names as "at-large.") Representatives to Faculty Search Committees -- (All hiring search committees include one graduate student.)

GHS Colloquium -- (Each semester GHS holds a number of workshops; recent ones have included "Grants and Fellowships: Finding Funding for Research" and "Comprehensive Exams Roundtable Discussion.") Lecture series -- (Once a year the GHS brings a prominent historian to campus to give a presentation and meet with graduate students.) Meetings -- (GHS holds about four meetings a year to conduct business and discuss issues of concern to members.) Picnics -- (Early fall GHS members get together for a barbecue and possibly a game softball, soccer, or football.) |
