FUNCTIONS OF LEGISLATIVE LIAISONS

The Federal Relations legislative liaison reports directly to the University President. He is the primary contact for federal relations activities.

The
State Relations Officer is an employee of the Board of Regents, reporting directly to the Executice Director of the Board of Regents.  The State Relations Officer is responsible for explaining policies and legislative requests to the Board of Regents and information about the University to the General Assembly and other state officials.

The Board of Regents is a group of nine citizen volunteers who govern the state’s three public universities and two special K-12 schools – the School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School – through policymaking, coordination and oversight.
