GRASSROOTS NETWORKING vs LOBBYING

As an individual volunteer of the University of Iowa Advocacy Network, you are not required to register as a lobbyist due to the fact that no compensation is provided. University of Iowa Advocates are not agents of the university, but citizens with personal opinions who contact legislators in support of or in opposition to legislation and/or to share information.

Any individual compensated by The University of Iowa in any way may fall under separate guidelines and should contact a member of the Governmental Relations staff prior to making contact with members of the Iowa General Assembly or statewide office holders.
